Testimonials from Community Homes Parents

Here are some testimonials from parents of people living in our Community Homes –

My daughter has lived at High Hurlands for some years now. All of her weeks are filled with activities that help build her confidence & interaction with local people. She is entertained through-out the days that keeps a smile on her face. It is a lovely place to live, away from the hustle & bustle of normal life, in a quiet country-side setting. Her bedroom is decorated to her own wishes & furniture installed to meet her requirements.
I cannot fault the staff within the bungalow or managers of the whole High Hurlands setting. Communication with the bungalow & the main house is excellent.
I feel at ease knowing that my daugther is being well looked after.

My son went to live in High Hurlands some 16+years ago. It is a fantastic place to live with staff who are committed and dedicated to giving the residents a fun filled and purposeful life. My son’s week contains a number of activities like walks, coffee out, swimming, adventure centre visits, sensory activities, stories, pub lunches (which he loves), art and craft, gardening etc. At weekends he goes on outings to beach, countryside, enjoys the theatre/cinema, shopping etc. as each bungalow has its own transport. We fit visits in around his busy life and will maybe spend time with him in his home, go for a walk/car ride, take him out for lunch to pub or join in on a “bungalow” outing. He has his own personlised bedroom and the cottage has its own garden with a trampoline and large swings which he loves.
We have a good relationship with all the staff and communicate well with bungalow staff, Homes manager and managers of the whole High Hurlands setting. We are contacted quickly if he is unwell and invited to all appointments. His needs are well met as are his fellow residents, all of whom need total care. Everyone in the extended setting knows him and are friendly to him and to us.
It has given us peace of mind that he is well settled in a happy, well-organised but homely home.
